Too many people move from the UK to Spain and do not review their existing pension arrangements. Many are also not aware that certain common types UK pension arrangements are taxed far more beneficially here in Spain than in the UK. As an example, a recent UK client living here in Spain and receiving approx £60,000 per annum in pension income was paying £20,000 at source in the UK. By restructuring his affairs accordingly we took advantage of Spanish tax laws and he is now paying £5,000, saving himself £15,000 every year without changes or costs.
